This year has been a journey of self-discovery and creativity for me as I’ve delved into the world of short stories. I’ve grown tremendously as an author through this endeavor. The quick iterations of scenes and complete stories are invaluable to honing my craft. The format also allows experimentation in form and content. Some stories contain kernels of ideas I have for later books. Others provide an opportunity for fun–a welcome break from the emotional toll of writing Hope and Madness.
Out of the eight tales I’ve penned so far, two have emerged with a fascinating theme that I can’t wait to share with you.
🐿️ **Squirrel Wars**: Join the hilarity as one woman battles wits with a group of cheeky, clever squirrels. Her attempts to control her space and these mischievous creatures will leave you laughing and reflecting on your own interactions with nature.
🐟 **Night Thief**: Dive into this humorous mystery where the protagonist is on a mission to protect her beloved pet koi from a cunning local fish thief. It’s a blend of mystery and comedy that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
As I edited these stories, I realized a common thread: our often absurd belief that we can control nature. Through (what I hope is) humor and wit, I explore this theme, inviting you to laugh at the ludicrousness of our attempts to dominate the natural world.
These stories are just the beginning. I’m excited to share that once I’ve completed more of these nature-inspired tales, I’ll be compiling them into an anthology that promises to entertain and enlighten.
